Poets will be well versed at Cumnock slam event

  • The Mercat Hotel will host the Poetry Slam event

A unique ‘Poetry Slam’ event comes to Cumnock this week, as the latest round of regional heats of the national event comes to town.

Poets will perform two poems in two-minute slots with the three best then facing each other in a final at the event in the Mercat Hotel on Sunday 29th January from 4.30-8.30pm.

The winner will receives a cash prize and a place in the national slam championship at the Aye Write Festival in March. He or she also qualifies for the heats of the BBC4 Poetry slam at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

The day will be hosted by Robin Cairns and is sponsored by social Enterprise CREATE.
