Netherthird resurfacing and news about repairs to frost ravaged roads

Works to improve the road surface at the new Community Centre in Netherthird will start next week.

The road resurfacing project will start from the junction of Rydreston Drive and Lamont Crescent to the new community facility. In addition to this resurfacing project there will also be repairs made to frost damaged roads at Carsgailoch Avenue, Holmburn Road and John Allan Drive while work will be undertaken to reinstate a section of footway on Craigens Road.

Councillor Bobby McDill, Spokesperson for Environment and Regeneration said: "The access road to the new Community Centre in Netherthird will greatly benefit from resurfacing and will allow much easier access to what is an excellent community facility. The Council will be turning its attention to our frost ravaged roads in the coming weeks. £2m has been committed by the Council to repair our roads which have been damaged as a result of the severe weather and I will be releasing further information in the coming weeks in regards to the programme of works in relation to road repairs."

What about James Young Avenue. It's littered with pot-holes and a man-hole cover that soon won't need to be opened to get into?
The local council forget that James Young Avenue is habited mainly by senior citizens. It's usually one of the last streets to be gritted or have the snow cleared in winter. Not ideal for the elderly who want to go out or the carers who have to come in.
