Cumnock Carnival 2010

by Joan Outram
Cumnock Carnival Partners are delighted to reinstate the Cumnock Carnival in a weekend extravaganza 18th and 19th June 2010. The Partners including Cumnock Juniors football club, Visions, WRF ltd, Yipworld and CREATE ltd, will provide a weekend of entertainment. The weekend starts with the opening of the 6th annual music festival on Friday 18th June, where our Carnival Queen 2010 will be presented to the Cumnock audience inviting them and the people of Cumnock to the crowning ceremony on Saturday 19th June in Woodroad Park at 12.00 noon.

We have now identified the last Cumnock Carnival Queen (1974): May Thompson, who is delighted to assist in crowning the new Queen who will be chosen this year from Greenmill Primary School. Heralds and attendants entourage will be chosen from the other schools in Cumnock, Netherthird and Logan. So come along and enjoy the variety of entertainment including Stilt-walker, Quad bikes, Clown acts, Laser- Clay Shoot, Dancers, Stalls, Duck Race, Balloon release, Fairground rides, Tug-of-war competition and much, much more.

We hope this fun-filled family weekend Festival and Carnival will continue year on year and the partners are committed to ensuring the success of this venture. If your organisation would like to be involved in the event get in touch with Joan on 07842232233 Joutram05@aol.com. Stall holders and Tug-of-war entrants should contact Linda at WRF Ltd woodroadpark@aol.com. There is a £100.00 cash prize for the winning team.

Many thanks to Kerr and Smith, Kenny's and Donsport for their kind offers of Carnival Queen car, Attendants kilt attire and Commemorative medals for the Carnival Queen and her entourage, and for their continued support of the event. Further Music Festival publicity will be available soon but already the Weekend is shaping up to be one of the best yet with "Whole lot of DC" Angel Star, Dangleberries, Cold Sweat, Alyson Killen, Mike MacDonald, and Sideway all confirmed.

Concert tickets cost £10 per evening and weekend tickets may be available at a further reduced cost so get in touch with Shaun 07950367512 or Eddie 07731051681 for tickets. There will be 5 bands / acts performing each night ensuring excellent value for money. So don't miss out on the Cumnock Carnival 2010 and fabulous Cumnock Music Festival weekend.
